In a move that promises to reshape the professional digital cinema camera landscape, Nikon Corporation today announced an agreement to acquire 100% ownership of RED.com, LLC (RED). The pioneering digital cinema camera company, founded by James Jannard in 2005, will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nikon after satisfying customary closing conditions.

Nikon Developed 1 inch 4K Stacked CMOS Sensor w/ 1000fps
Nikon Japan today issued a press release that Nikon has developed a stacked CMOS with a total pixel count of approximately 17.84 million pixels that realizes high-resolution imaging with 1000 frames per second, HDR characteristics of 110 dB, and 4K x 4K.

Nikon to End Camera Production in Japan (Moving to Thailand in Late 2021)
According to Japanese website Asahi, Nikon will end camera production in Japan by the end of 2021, all camera production will moved to Thailand. Currently, Z6 & Z7 and Z-mount lens production have already moved to Thailand, and D6 production will be moved to Thailand by the end of 2021.
